A pastry chef is a chef who specializes in baking pastries.

Le Peche Gourmand is a small, locally owned French bakery and patisserie in the Goldfields of Victoria, 20 minutes from Daylesford and 15 minutes from Ballarat. We are searching for an apprentice pastry chef or baker to join our team that has a love for what they do. Our company's guiding principle is to daily create and bake goods from scratch that taste great and look stunning while respecting traditional recipes and utilizing fresh, in-season ingredients. To be as hands-on as possible, we bake on a small scale. We take pleasure in continuously delivering a superior product.

This job demands you to be proficient in all areas of our goods, including baking all of the morning pastries and bread, laminating our croissant dough, helping to set up the shop, preparing choux pastry, decorating with fondant, etc. Pre-mixes or packaged goods are not used by us. The chance to succeed via diligence will be rewarded to the chosen individual, who will have access to the greatest components Australia has to offer.

Work duties and obligations:

  1. Preparing all items from scratch while adhering to a manufacturing timeline
  2. Preparing the components needed for each day's production
  3. Running mixers and other machinery
  4. Oven work
  5. Splitting and hand-molding sweet and artisan dough
  6. Items are finished to a consistently high quality.
  7. Necessary general and cleaning chores
  8. Must be adaptable and have a positive outlook
  9. Needing the weekend
  10. Night shifts are necessary
  11. Own a permanent residence or be an Australian citizen
  12. Working hours range from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m.

Expertise & Background:


  1. Although not required, having expertise in artisan baking in professional food service is beneficial.
  2. A keen eye for detail and a love of fine bread
  3. Good time-management and organizing abilities
  4. Exceptional food hygiene standards and familiarity with HACCP are preferable
  5. Outstanding physical condition
  6. Exemplary work ethic, punctuality, positive attitude, and love for work
